LitFest Pasadena 2022

One of the greatest delights of living in Southern California is our access to incredible authors through book festivals and events. Some of these festivals have become extremely large (LA Times Festival of Books, anyone?), but others offer a more intimate and homegrown feel.

LitFest Pasadena is just such a book festival—where local authors and readers get to connect in an inclusive community-based atmosphere. This is the 10th anniversary of LitFest Pasadena and we’re very pleased to be in person again this year.

What I love about the community of SoCal writers is that they come from everywhere, bringing their unique voices and experiences with them. Authors for young people tackle serious topics, silly ones, and everything in between. And it’s the friendliest community in the world!

I’ve been lucky enough to coordinate LitFest Pasadena’s young reader’s programming for the past four years and am thrilled about the authors who will be joining us this year.

Want to learn more about what it takes to write and publish a picture book? Our picture book panel features the amazing Marla Frazee, Michelle Markel, Andrea J. Loney, and Helena Ku Rhee. (Beyond Words, Saturday, May 14 at 1:30pm)

Middle grade your thing? Then you’ll be excited to attend this conversation with middle grade masters Brenda Woods, Chris Baron, Lori Snyder, and Ernesto Cisneros. (Facing the Unknown, Saturday, May 14 at 3pm)

And of course we’ve got YA covered! These stellar authors discuss writing for teens: Alexandra Overy, Brandie June, Carly Heath, Dana Claire, Naz Kutub, and Zabe Ellor. (Yay, YA! Saturday, May 14 at 4:30pm)

Attendance for all of these incredible panel discussions is free! Come for one panel or come for all. There are books to buy and author signings after each event.

We’ll be at the Pasadena Presbyterian Church, 585 East Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101. Check out the entire LitFest schedule here: https://litfestpasadena.org

Bring your questions. Bring your enthusiasm! We look forward to seeing you on May 14!

Also catch YA authors CB Lee, Austin Siegemund-Broka, and Emily Wibberly in LOVE IN THE 21ST CENTURY (3:00 pm), and YA author Sarah Kuhn in MODERN LOVE (4:30 pm).
